Animal rescues

Toto and friends

In 2003 Toto arrived at the world-renowned chimpanzee sanctuary, Chimfunshi Wildlife Orphanage in Northern Zambia, having been rescued by ADI from a circus in Chile. Here at Chimfunshi Toto soon met little Madonna, and their embrace is Toto’s first with another chimpanzee for the first time in over 20 years. These moments were the start of a friendship that went from strength to strength.

Since then Toto’s family group at Chimfunshi has grown and he is now uncle to a host of orphaned chimps. His life is often full and busy, but he still finds time to relax alone or take a stroll in the bush.
