Job losses at HLS

Posted: 1 August 2012. Updated: 1 August 2012

Huntingdon Life Sciences is to make 6% of its workforce redundant nearly 100 staff as the global contract researcher falls foul of a downturn in the pharmaceutical industry. Most of the job losses will be at their Huntingdon laboratory in Cambridgeshire, with the rest in Eye, Suffolk and will include scientists and managers.

HLS is a major European contract testing laboratory, conducting toxicological (safety) tests on behalf of a range of clients who include manufacturers of drugs, chemicals and other products. An ADI/NAVS investigator worked as an animal technician in the primate toxicology units at HLS for a year, until the summer of 2008.
