Animals used when a non-animal method is available

1

Animals are often used when a non-animal method is clearly available, and is actually more relevant to humans. For example cancers continue to be grown on the backs of rodents when human cancers are being studied in cell culture elsewhere.

At St Mary’s, monkeys we filmed were being injected with excrement from other monkeys infected with hepatitis, yet human hepatitis can be studied in cell culture.
