Position: Development Manager

Location: Animal Defenders International, Inc., San Francisco, USA
Job Type: Fundraising and donor development with some campaigning assistance; managerial position.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the President and vice President, this full-time position will assist in developing and managing an effective fund development program, including annual gifts, major gifts, grants, capital campaigns, special events and communication programs. Some assistance with campaigning activities will also be required, in this small office:

· Legacy and Trust fundraising and administration
· Planning, coordination, and evaluation of special events (i.e. invitations, guest lists, scheduling, data entry)
· Assisting with gift processing (alongside accountant), including cash deposits and data entry
· Maintenance of the donor database
· Merchandising
· Internet and website fundraising
· Writes and produces donor acknowledgements and correspondence
· Assist with delivery of direct mail campaigns, mail merges, and development of supporter relations.
· Volunteer recruitment, activities, management; development of volunteer program
· Prospect research
· Preparation of funding proposals and reports; assisting with grant applications
· Assistance with campaign activities, as directed

QUALIFICATIONS and QUALITIES:

· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
· Minimum 3-5 years development/fundraising experience
· Some campaigns experience is an advantage
· Excellent organization and time management skills; discretion, attention to detail
· Excellent writing skills with ability to compose and edit business communications
· Knowledge of direct mail campaigns
· Demonstrated success in managing special events
· Ability to prioritize and handle multiple assignments is imperative
· Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of programs, especially Excel and Word. Proficiency with mail merges
· Demonstrated knowledge of relational databases; Raiser’s Edge experience preferred
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills
· Available to work weekends and evenings, as necessary
· Valid California Driver’s license
· Commitment to the aims and objectives of ADI
· An entrepreneurial spirit – a self-starter able to work with minimal supervision to achieve agreed goals
· Team player willing to help out on other projects as needed
